Ethiopia Records 109 More COVID-19 Cases, 8 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 109 more coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Sunday, taking the nationwide confirmed cases count to 272, 914, the Ministry of Health reported.

The country conducted nearly 4, 000 coronavirus tests in the past twenty-four hours to confirm the new cases.

In its daily Covid-19 report, the ministry also claims at least eight people have lost their lives in the same period.



To date, 4, 209 Ethiopians have died due to health complications linked to Coronavirus, which causes the respiratory disease.

The East African nation currently has 22, 456 active cases, and, of whom 399 are severely sick, according to the ministry.

In the past 24-hours, nearly 600 patients of Covid-19 recuperated from the disease, bringing the recovery count to 246, 247.

Ethiopia has so far reported the largest number of cases in the East Africa region after conducting more than 2.71 medical tests.

Its health officials are pushing forward with their immunization campaign over the weekend.

A total of 1, 882, 719 people have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 since the campaign started in mid-March, 2021.

Ethiopia received its first batch of 2.2 million doses of this vaccine from the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility in March, 2021.
