ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 417 more Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Friday, taking the national confirmed case tally to 270, 977.
Nearly 6000 medical tests have been conducted over the past twenty-four hour to confirm the latest positive cases.
In its Covid-19 report for Friday, the ministry of health also said additional 12 people have passed away due to the virus, pushing the death toll to 4, 139.
There are now 30, 953 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia. Of these, 447 patients are critically ill, the report shows.
In the past 24-hours, a total of 1, 424 patients have recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the recovery count to 235, 850.
Despite the increase in recoveries, Ethiopia is still among the most affected countries in Africa.
Officials have recently launched a movement to ‘Revitalize focused response to Covid-19’ to stop the spread of the virus.
Focus are being given on strengthening multi-sectoral responses, including increasing immunization coverage.
As of Friday evening, a total of 1, 798, 140 people have been inoculated with Covid-19 vaccine.
Ethiopia began vaccinating its citizens after health officials received country’s first batch of Covid-19 vaccines from COVAX facility in mid-March, this year.
