Ethiopia, France Discuss Post-COVID Economic Recovery

ADDIS ABABA – Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, has met Emmanuel Moulin, Director-General of France’s Treasury, in Paris.

Moulin, who also chairs the Paris Club Secretariat, briefed the Minister on the status of the Common Framework for Debt Treatment beyond DSSI, which is designed to address fiscal constraints faced by many countries as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the discussion, Ahmed also explained the importance of having timely and sustainable financing support for African economies to ensure the protection of socio-economic gains made in the past decade.

Both the Minister and the Director-General agreed to strengthen the collaboration between the two counties in several areas.

The two sides, particularly, agreed on the need for creative financing solutions to continue the development aspirations of African countries.
