Ethiopia Records 48 Covid-19 related Deaths Over the Weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered a total of 48 more Coronavirus (Covid-19) related deaths over the weekend, taking the national death toll to 3, 888.

Data from the ministry of health shows 31 and 17 people have lost their lives due to health complications linked to the virus on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.



The East African nation has also confirmed 1, 122 new covid-19 positive cases in the past 48-hours after conducting 10, 696 medical tests.

At least 740 seriously sick patients are currently getting medical treatment in intensive care units across the nation, claims today’s Covid-19 report of the Ministry that put the total confirmed cases at 48, 782.

In the past two days, health officials have reported the recovery of 3, 160 patients from the respiratory disease.
To date, a total of 210, 030 people have recuperated after contracting the coronavirus.

Ethiopia confirmed its first Covid-19 case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has identified 262, 702 infections after conducting more than 2.62 medical tests.

The country is among the top five countries in Africa affected by the pandemic, pushing its health officials to take various measures including launching a major vaccination campaign.

To date, 1, 295, 723 people have been inoculated since the campaign begun in March, 2021.
