Ethiopia Reports 924 COVID-19 New Cases, 35 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered a total of 924 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, bringing the nationwide tally to more than 254, 000.
In its daily covid-19 report, Health Ministry said it has identified the latest positive cases after conducting 5, 258 medical tests in the past twenty-four hours.
In the same period, the Ministry also confirmed the death of at least 35 patients due to COVID-related complications.
The figure has brought the national death toll to 3, 606.
The number of hospitalizations has shown a slight decrease, the report reveals.
About 985 Covid-19 patients are receiving medical treatment in intensive care units nationwide, according to health officials.
They are among the 54, 890 confirmed active cases in the country.
The report also reveals at least 2, 050 patients have recovered from the deadly respiratory illness, pushing the recovery tally 195, 547.
Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous nation, has confirmed its first case in March, 2020. Since then, the country has reported a total of 254, 044 nfections after conducting more than 2.56mln tests.
Both the COVID-19 case and test tallies are the heights recorded in the East African region.
