ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded more daily recoveries from Covid-19 than daily new cases on Wednesday, data from the ministry of health shows.
A total of 1,997 patients have recovered while 1,329 new infections recorded in the past twenty-four hours, shows the COVID-report the Ministry issued for the day.
Health officials identified the new cases after conducting nearly 7,000 tests in the same period across the nation.
Despite recoveries outpaced new infections for the first time this month, the rate of severe cases has exceeded the 1000 mark again today.
A total of 10,059 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized after they become severely ill, health officials reported.
These patients are among the 59, 076 confirmed active cases in the East African country.
During the period, additional 35 patients have lost their lives due to the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus, according to the Covid-19 report.
The latest death figure has pushed COvid-19 related death toll in the country to 3,474.
Ethiopia identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 246, 484 infections after conducting over 2.52mln tests. Nearly 184, 000 people have recovered from the disease after contracting the virus.
