Ethiopia Confirms 1, 568 New Coronavirus Cases, 22 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of health reported Ethiopia has recorded a total of 1, 568 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, bringing the nationwide tally to 232, 512.
Health officials identified the latest positive infections after testing more than 7, 600 people over the past twenty-four hours.
A further 22 new people have passed away due to the respiratory disease, claims the ministry’s COVID report for the day.
The latest figure has brought the national death toll to 3, 230.
Data from the ministry shows the rate of hospitalization has slightly decreased from Monday, during which officials recorded 983 cases.
Currently, at least 967 patients who are seriously ill are getting medical treatment in intensive care units across the nation, Tuesday’s report shows.
The patients are among the 55, 462 confirmed active cases in the country.
In the past 24-hours, a total of 1, 838 people have recuperated from COVID-19, taking the national recovery count to 173, 818.
Ethiopia has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the East African region, after conducting more than 2.46mln tests. The test tally too is one of the highest in the continent.
