Police Arrest Smugglers with 599 Turkish-made Pistols In Gondar

ADDIS ABABA – Two suspects have been arrested while trying to  smuggle 599 Turkish-made pistols into Gondar City of Amhara Regional State, the city’s Police said on Monday.

The suspects were arrested during a search operation in the area around 11a.m. today, Chief Inspector of the Gondar city polce, Eyerus Asmare, told State-run news agency ENA.



The smugglers were trying to transport the weapons with a vehicle from Sudan, Magnen to the Ethiopian City of Gondar but captured at a place called Woleqa, a checkpoint near the town, according to the head.

The inspector has also confirmed that the source of the weapons was from Sudan.
