Covid-19: Ethiopia Records 1, 537 New Infections, 15 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded at least 1, 537 new Covid-19 infections and 15 related deaths on Monday, health officials said.

In its daily report, Ministry of Health said it has conducted nearly 7, 000 coronavirus tests in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases.



A further 15 people have passed away due to COVID-related complications on the day, the ministry confirmed. It had pushed the national death toll to 2, 674.

According to the Ministry, the number of hospitalizations has jumped by close to 50 as compared to the preceding day.

About 653 patients are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital beds after they become severely ill,  the report shows. The patients are among the 37, 655 confirmed active cases in the country.

Over the past twenty-four, at east 1, 119 people have recovered from the respiratory illness, bringing the recovery tally to 148, 571.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has identified 188, 902 infections after conducting over 2.28mln tests.
