COVID-19: Ethiopia Confirms 1, 413 More Infections, 10 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 413 more Covid-19 infections and 10 deaths on Sunday, Ministry of Health reported.
Nearly 6000 people have been tested for the coronavirus over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases.
Today’s infections’ tally is one of the highest single-day cases recorded this month as many failed to observe the public health advice the Ministry put in place to control the pandemic.
“The pandemic is not over and the fight must continue, we need to revitalize our collective efforts to protect our loved ones and ourselves by adhering to the prevention measures,” Dr. Lia Tadesse, Minister of health, said in a twitted message.
On Friday, the Ministry also said additional 10 people have lost their lives due to the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus, pushing the national death toll so far to 2, 550.
At least 467 patients are currently getting medical treatment in hospital beds after they become severely ill, the Covid report shows. They are among 29, 205 confirmed active cases nationally.
A total of 1, 413 patients have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease in the 24-hours period.
The figure, health officials reported, has pushed the number of people who have recuperated from the disease in the country to 143, 710.
To date, Ethiopia has conducted more than 2.22mln tests and confirmed 175, 467 infections.
