Ethiopia’s Deputy PM to Visit Turkey

ADDIS ABEBA – Demeke Mekonnen, deputy Prime Minister and foreign Minister of Ethiopia, will make a two-day official visit to Turkey starting from Monday.

Ankara said Demeke will hold discussions with its senior government officials.

“During the talks, bilateral relations will be discussed, also exchange of views concerning regional and international issues will take place,” Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement issued on Sunday.

The visit will mark the 125th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic contacts between Ethiopia and Turkey.

Deputy PM Demeke, together with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, will attend the official inauguration of Ethiopia’s new Embassy built in Ankara, Turkey’s cosmopolitan capital, according to the statement.
