Ethiopia’s COVID-19 Cases Count Exceeds 140,000
ADDIS ABEBA – Ministry of Health said the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ethiopia rose to more than 140 ,000 after new 749 new cases were reported on Thursday.
Additional four patients of covid-19 patients have also passed away on the day. The latest figure has brought the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country to 2,126.
The ministry further reported the recovery of at least 245 patients from the deadly respiratory disease bringing the total number of recovery to 124, 242.
There are now 13, 787 active cases in the country, the report shows. At least 209 of these active cases are severely ill, health officials said.
Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous nation with about 107 million people, has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the east African region. The country has also conducted the highest number of tests in the sub-region.
Nearly 2mln Ethiopians have been tested for the virus since the epidemic started in the country in March 2020 with a total of 140, 157 positive cases confirmed so far.
