Ethiopia Records 404 New COVID-19 Infections, 15 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded on Friday 15 covid-related deaths, the highest daily death toll registered since Dec 25, 2020.

The latest figure on the day has pushed the number of deaths due to the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus to 2023, reported Ministry of Health. The country confirmed its first COVID-19 related death on April 15, 2020.

In its daily covid report, health officials also said they have recorded 404 new infections on the day after conducting nearly 6, 000 tests.

The East African nation currently has 12, 873 confirmed active cases. Health officials also said about 223 of them are hospitalized after falling severely ill.

At least 679 patients have recuperated from the disease on the day, shows the report.

To date, the country has tested more than 1.87mln people since the first coronavirus case confirmed on March 13, and identified 130, 326 infections. Over 115, 000 patients have recuperated after contracting the virus.
