ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded 176 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to nearly 129, 000.
Nearly 5000 tests have been conducted to identify the latest positive cases, the ministry of health said in its daily covid report.
The report also confirms the death one person due to the virus in the day, pushing the death toll to 2, 004. The first two covid-related deaths reported in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.
Currently, the country has 12, 724 active cases.
At least 221 of them have been hospitalized after becoming severely ill, the report indicates. The number of hospitalization has increased by at least 20 since Monday.
The ministry also reported the increase in the number of recoveries when compared to the previous day, which was only 189.
Nearly 700 patients have recuperated from the deadly respiratory disease on the day, according the health officials.
This figure has taken the number of people that recovered after contracting the virus to 114, 262.
The East African Nation identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. To date, the country has tested nearly 1.86mln people and confirmed 128, 992 infections.
