ADDIS ABEBA –Telecom services in Tigray region has been partially restored in Tigray regional state, Ethio Telecom said on Wednesday.
“There has been telecom services interruption in Tigray Region for the last three weeks due to the crisis in the region,” the sole telecom service provider in Ethiopia said.
“We are able to resume telecom service using alternative power solutions and after conducting necessary maintenance and rehabilitation works on damaged telecom infrastructures.” Ethio Telecom said.
The service has been fully restored in Alamata town, according to Ethio Telecom.
The company has also resumed its service in Dansha, Turkan, Humera, Shiraro, Maytsebri and Maykadra partially.
Ethiopia Telecom said it’s staff are “currently working hard to restore telecom services in all areas of the Tigray Region within a short period of time”.
Maintenance and rehabilitation of damaged telecom infrastructures is underway, Ethio Telecom revealed, adding that it is working with Ethiopian Electric Power to ensure commercial power availability in addition to considering alternative power solutions.
