TPLF forces Fire Rockets into Bahir Dar, Again

ADDIS ABEBA – Forces of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) fired rockets on Friday into the city of Bahir Dar but caused no casualties or damage, the Amhara region communication bureau said.

“The illegal TPLF group have launched a rocket attack around 1:40 a.m. in Bahir Dar,” the Bureau said on its Facebook page. “The rockets have caused no damage.”

The northern-based TPLF effectively ruled Ethiopia for decades as the strongest force in a multi-ethnic coalition, until Abiy took power two years ago after years of bloody protests against government repression.

The latest attack reportedly targeted area near the city’s airport, which has been a subject of similar TPLF force’s attack last week.

Tigray forces fired rockets at two airports, including Gondar, in Amhara region a week ago. They have also fired at rockets at the neighboring nation of Eritrea, which has a long-running enmity with the TPLF leadership.
