Ethiopia’s COVID-19 Confirmed Cases Exceeds 85, 000

ADDIS ABABA – The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Ethiopia has exceeded 85, 000 after its ministry of health reported 841 new cases on Tuesday.

The new positive cases are identified from nearly 6000 tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours.



In its daily Covid-19 report, the ministry reported 14 more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the total number of people who passed away due to the virus to 1, 301.

At least 230 Covid-19 patients are currently seeking medical attention as they are severely ill, according to the Ministry’s report which puts the number of active cases to nearly 45, 000.

The ministry has also reported 588 patients of the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus over the past 24-hours. To date, more than 38, 900 patients have regained their health after contracting the virus.

The East African nation confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Since then, it has tested more than 1.35 million people for the virus and confirmed 85, 136 cases.
