Ethiopia Records 618 New COVID-19 Cases, 8 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – A total of  618 new positive cases of coronavirus were registered in Ethiopia, the Ministry of Health reported on Monday.

The new cases have been identified after more than 6, 000 coronavirus tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours, according to the Ministry’s daily COVID-19 report.

Health officials also reported said 8 patients of the respiratory disease passed away, pushing the death toll to 1, 230.

There are now over 44, 000 active cases and, of these, 292 are severely ill are hospitalizedfor treatment, according to the Ministry.

Health officials also noted 956 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the disease, the highest recorded in Ethiopia’s new year.

This has pushed the total number of patients to have recovered from the disease so far to more than 34, 000.

Ethiopia has so far tested more than 1.3mln people for coronavirus since the first case confirmed in March, and identified 79, 437 cases.
