Ethiopia Records 730 More COVID-19 Cases, 7 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 730 new infections of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 76, 000.

Some 6, 475 people have been tested for the virus in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, shows the daily COVID-19 report of the Ministry of Health indicates.

The country also recorded a similar number of deaths for two consecutive days after the ministry confirmed 7 more patients have died due to coronavirus. To date, over 1, 200 people lost their lives to the deadly respiratory disease.

The east african nation currently has 43, 461 active cases. Of these, 255 patients are severely ill and are under treatment at COVID-19 health centers.

The daily report also registers an increase in the number of recoveries with upto 255 patients regained their health. The latest figure has pushed the tally of recoveries to 31, 430, according to the ministry of health.

Ethiopia confirmed its first case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has identified 76, 098 infections of coronavirus after conducting nearly 1.28 million testing. The number of testing conducted so far is one the highest in Africa.
