Ethiopia Records 604 New Coronavirus Cases, 7 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 604 more coronavirus infections on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 71, 687, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry’s daily report claims the country identified the new positive cases after 8, 348 laboratory tests conducted across the nation over the past twenty-four hours.

Authorities also recorded 7 additional deaths of COVID-19 patients during the reported period, taking the death toll in the nation to 1, 148.

The East African country currently has more than 41, 000 active cases. The figure includes 267 serious cases who are receiving treatment in health facilities, according to the ministry’s report.

The report also says at least 208 patients have regained their health after being infected with the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 29, 461.

Health officials confirmed the country’s first case on March 13, 2020. To date, the nation tested 1.23mln people which is one the highest testing conducted among African nations.
