ADDIS ABABA – A new digital application that connects vehicle owners with transport seekers has been launched on Monday.
The application, named MACAFEL, is designed in 2.5 million Ethiopian birrs, its owner said.
The application is a car-sharing marketplace where travelers can book a car of their preference at any time from local hosts across Ethiopia.
Speaking at a press briefing, Tewodros Gashaw, CEO and owner of the application, has indicated the platform as the first of its kind to provide such service.
The company, which also owns Quota car rental, has already registered over 500 car owners who list their cars for rent as it launches the application on Monday.
The company does not charge any fee when registering car renters, its officials said.
As for the customers, Tewodros said they can easily search and book Cars via the support of the application online and pay either via Bank of Abyssinia’s digital payment system or in cash based on their preferable car type and category.
According to the CEO, when car rentals are working with MACAFEL, “they will have easy market access, avoid price fluctuation and will have more control over their businesses”.
