Ethiopia Reports 889 New Coronavirus Infections, 12 deaths
ADDIS ABABA – The number of novel coronavirus infections in Ethiopia has increased by 889 in the past 24 hours, the highest daily tally since the start of Ethiopian new year.
In its daily report, the Ministry of Health said the country has tested 8115 people during the period to identify the new positive cases of the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.
The ministry also recorded 12 more deaths during the period, pushing the death toll to 1, 108.
There are now nearly 40, 000 active cases in Ethiopia. Of these, 301 patients are in severe conditions, indicates the ministry’s daily report, with their number showing a slight increase from Sunday.
The report also shows 320 patients of COVID-19 have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to more than 28, 300 people have recuperated from the disease.
The East African nation identified its first case on March 13. So far, the country tested over 1.2mln individuals and confirmed more than 69, 709 infections.
