Ethiopia Records 1652 New COVID-19 Cases, 17 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1652 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday , taking the total number of confirmed cases to 28, 894.

The ministry of health, in its daily report, said 22, 252 people tested to identify the new positive cases on the day, which is registered as a daily high increase to date.



The ministry also reported 17 coronavirus-related deaths on the same day – making the death toll in Ethiopia so far to exceed 500 mark.

Currently, there are 16, 346 active cases in the nation. Of these, 199 patients are in severe conditions, said the ministry.

Health officials also said some 377 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 12, 037.

Ethiopia confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. To date, the country has tested 589, 694 people and reported close 28, 900 cases including 509.
