Ethiopia Reports 250 More Coronavirus Cases; 8 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia on Friday reported 250 new coronavirus cases, taking its nationwide tally to 5, 425.

Ministry of Health reported, after conducting 5, 414 tests over the past twenty-four hours, at least 158 male and 92 female tested positive for COVID-19 – a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.



All of the newly identified patients are Ethiopian nationals with their ages ranging from 3 months to 90 years.

The ministry also said 8 people had died of the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 89.

All except one patient that passed away are from Addis Ababa. The remaining one death reported from Dire Dawa.

Currently, there are 3, 646 active cases. Of these, 27 patients are under severe conditions, according to today’s report.

Health officials also said 144 patients of COVID-19 have recovered over the past 24 hours.

The East African nation, which confirmed its first case on March 13, has recorded close to 5, 500 confirmed cases and 89 deaths. to date, 1688 patients recovered from the disease.
