ADDIS ABEBA – Sheger Bread & Flour Factory is set to begin making loaves of bread within weeks, a top official of Addis Ababa city administration said, after it started production test on Thursday.
The 900-million-Birr factory has a capacity of making 1.5 million loaves of bread per day.
Takele Uma, deputy mayor of Addis Ababa city, announced: “testing & monitoring will be completed in the next few weeks & then we are finally in production”.
The bakery plans to avail its products to lower and middle-income communities of the capital with its 90 grams-100 grams of bread.
The items will be in good supply at all the parts of the city at an affordable price, according to its officials.
The project, owned by MIDROC’s Horizon Plantation Ethiopia Plc., incorporates a flour factory.
