ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held talks with a high level Sudanese delegation on various regional and bilateral issues today.
Abiy’s office said the discussion was focused on areas ranging from border issues and enhancing Ethio-Sudan economic ties to mitigating effects of the #COVID19 pandemic collaboratively.
The delegation led by Amb. Omer Bahir Manees, Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, came to Addis Ababa where the talks were held, earlier today.
“I welcome Sudan PM Hamdok’s high-level delegation as a demonstration of the long-standing strong ties between our two countries,” said Abiy after he met the delegation.
“I am pleased with the discussion we held on jointly strengthening our economies, on #GERD, border issues, as well as the #COVID19 challenge, faced,” he wrote on his Twitter page.
Leaders of the two nations are in constant contact in recent weeks to discuss various topics including on ways to resolve their border dispute and renaissance dam.
PM Abiy and his Sudanese counterpart Abdalla Hamdok agreed to form a technical body to complete the demarcation of the border during their phone talks fortnight ago.
