Ethiopia Reports One New COVID-19 Case, Another Recovery

ADDIS ABABA – A 45-year-old resident of Ethiopia’s northern city, Bahir Dar, has been been reported as the only COVID-19 case today, according to Ministry of Health.

Over the past twenty-four hours, Ethiopia has managed to test at least 1, 408 people, a record number of tests for a day in the country so far. Of this, only one of them tested positive for Covid-19, increasing the confirmed tally to 131.



The ministry of Health described the patient as a 45-year-old woman resident of Bahir Dar, the capital city of Amhara regional state.

She contacted the virus from the previously confirmed case, it said. The daily report of the ministry also confirmed that another case of recovery.

A resident of Addis Ababa has recovered from the virus, taking the number recovery to 59, said the ministry.

Ethiopia reported its first case of coronavirus on 12 March and, currently, has 67 patients in treatment centers across the nation. To date, three people have died due to the virus.
