ADDIS ABEBA- Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health has confirmed today two more coronavirus cases, increasing the number of patients to 11.
One is a 28 years old Ethiopia who had a travel history to COVId-19 affected country and came from Belgium to Ethiopia on March 14, 2020.
The second case is a 34-year old Ethiopian who came to Ethiopia on March 19, 2020, from Dubai and detected at Bole International Airport health screening desk as he had signs and symptoms
“Both are in stale conditions and under close medical care,” said Dr. Lia Tadesse, Minister of health.
Officials are now working on the contact tracing of the confirmed cases
“We require all contacts of confirmed cases to self-isolate themselves for 14 days where we will continue our follow up,” the minister said in a statement issued today.
Previously, Ethiopia has confirmed 9 COVID-19 cases. All but one patient are in stable condition.
The 85-year old patient is still in oxygen treatment, said Dr. Lia.
The country has so far tested 392 samples are investigated for coronavirus.
On Friday, the government has imposed several measures to contain the virus including a direction for all passengers arriving in Ethiopia will be subjected to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period in designated hotels at their own personal.
