ADDIS ABEBA – Malta Guinness has launched today a campaign that will help consumers donate 2 million Birr to children heart fund during the Christian and Muslim fasting seasons.
The donation, which will be garnered from the sale of both the glass and PET format of MG in the three months campaign, will be given to The Children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia (CHFE).
“We have dedicated this year’s goodness campaign for the CHFE as they are helping out hundreds of people every year,” Yeabsira Getachew, Malta Guinness’s Brand Manager, said. “We believe our support will help the organization to achieve its goals.”
The Children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia currently has over 7,000 on its waiting list and can only serve 500 patients every year.
“We are only working one third our capacity due to finance and medical consumables shortage,” said Hiruy Ali, Director of CHFE. “With this, it will take us 14 years to give the service to all patients on the waiting list.”
“But, with the support of our donors like Malta Guinness, we can minimize the long-overdue schedule of patients to only three or four years,” Hiruy added.
Malta Guinness will also donate additional ETB 200,000 with its Corporate Challenge activity.
Its official said Malta Guinness will challenge corporations in Ethiopia to take on the Malta Guinness Wezwez Challenge on digital #wezwezchallenge.
For the first 10 corporations that take on the Wezwez Challenge and post it on Facebook tagging Malta Guinness Facebook page, Malta Guinness will donate ETB 20,000 in their name to the Children’s Heart Fund of Ethiopia.
Since 2009, the Fund, a non-governmental organization, has helped 4,800 patients get free of charge service which is worth 70 million dollars.
