PM Abiy Recognizes Police Officer for Refusing Bribe

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahamed has awarded a certificate of recognition to a police officer for refusing bribe weapon smugglers.

The police officer, named Siraj Abdella, is a member of the Police force in Afar region that borders Djibouti and Eritrea.

“Following Siraj’s courageous refusal to accept bribes from weapon smugglers, PM Abiy met Siraj to appreciate him for placing country & people above self in upholding the rule of law,” said a statement from the prime minister office.

The PM Abiy said there “are important lessons to learn from such young law enforcement agents who protect peace and security of fellow citizens, dispensing their duties in honesty”.
