Ethio-Telecom, CBE Deal to Allow Telecom Clients Pay via Bank

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethio-telecom and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) have signed a deal that enables the telecoms services provider to collect payment from its customers via the bank.

Frehiwot Tamiru, CEO of Ethio-telecom, and Bacha Gina, President of CBE, have signed the deal on Monday, Ethiopia’s sole telecom service provider said in a statement.

The agreement allows their clients to pay service fees using CBE’s branches as well as CBE Birr, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) machines of the bank.

CBE, is the largest commercial bank in Ethiopia, established in 1942 and has more than 1340 branches across the country.
