Ethiopian’s ShebaMiles Turns 20

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopian’s Frequent Flyer Program, ShebaMiles, will turn to 20 this year, the airlines said on Tuesday.

The program was originally named after the Queen of Sheba of Ethiopia whose reward is considered to be generous according to Ethiopian mythology.

The airlines says ShebaMiles is one of the most rewarding and innovative programs of Ethiopian which creates memories and special customer experiences for passengers.

The Frequent Flyer Program enables members to accumulate miles which will entitle them to award tickets, upgrade awards and many other privileges. The more miles the members fly the higher the benefits they get from ShebaMiles.

In celebration of the 20th anniversary, Ethiopian Airlines’ Frequent Flyer Program, ShebaMiles, has launched a ‘1-million-mile Reward’ promotion to offer loyal members 100,000 miles for consecutive 10 months.

Additionally, the airline offers a great mix of discount awards, extra bonus miles and more privileges including from its partners all over the world.

“We are excited to offer our members with more ways to earn miles over the years,” said Tewolde Gebremariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

“Throughout these years, our customers have immensely contributed to the development of the loyalty program.”

The Frequent Flyer Program has teamed up with several airlines and nonairline partners to offer choices for members to accumulate miles.

“Going forward, we will continuously strive to offer enormous privileges for our customers underpinned by our digital solutions,” said Tewolde.

In the current program structure, ShebaMiles has Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum tier levels which are achieved through the number of Status Miles or sectors flown annually and grant corresponding privileges.

Members are eligible to check their flight activities, upgrade their profiles, issue award tickets and claim their missing miles on the tip of their fingers, says the airlines.
