ADDIS ABEBA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed talks up investment opportunities in his opening remarks at the Ethiopia Korea Business Forum on Tuesday.
“In his remarks, Prime Minister Abiy shared the various activities currently being undertaken by his administration to create a conducive business environment for investments to thrive,” said his office in a statement.
Noting the historical relations between the two countries, he called upon South Korean businesses to join Ethiopia’s journey to prosperity.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Abiy has held discussions with the leaders of the two major South Korean companies, Samsung and Hyundai.
In bilateral discussions with the Executive Vice President of Samsung Won-Kyong Kim, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed invited the multinational conglomerate to invest in Ethiopia and create a positive impact in the country and the region.
Kim shared he has respect for the economic reform policies currently underway and expressed interest in exploring the capacity for investing.
Continuing his engagement, Abiy met with Hyundai leadership to discuss the potential expansion of investments in Ethiopia.
He also met with steel making giant POSCO and explored the possibility of setting up steelworks in Ethiopia to meet the current domestic demand in construction, as well as to enable job creation.
