ADDIS ABABA – Ambassador Redwan Hussein has been named as the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) Director General.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has also appointed Tigist Hamid as the Information Network Security Administration (INSA) director general.
The Office of the PM announced two executive appointments to the two top national security agencies on Thursday following the Ethiopian lawmakers’ approval of three new ministers.
Ambassador Redwan has been serving as national security advisor to the PM Office with the rank of minister for over a year.
He has now succeeded the former NISS Director General Temesgen Tiruneh, who became the new deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
PM Abiy also promoted Tigist to lead the Information Network Security Administration (INSA).
The appointment sees Tigist return to INSA as Director General from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics where she served as senior technology advisor for about two years.
The new director general went through the ranks of the institution from Network Engineer to department head during her 14 years stay at INSA.
Tigist graduated from MicroLink Information Technical College with a degree in IT Engineering and also her graduate degree in Information and Network Security from UK’s Robert Gordon University.
