Ethiopian National Football Team to Tour U.S. in July
ADDIS ABABA – The Walia Ibex will visit the United States in July, the Ethiopian Football Federation announced on Monday.
“Soccer fans, get ready for an amazing experience,” the governing body of Ethiopian football said, announcing the Men’s National Team tour to the U.S.
The Walias will start their tour in Washington DC on July 8, 2022.
“This historic tour will showcase the skills and talent of the Ethiopia Men’s National team,” the EFF said.
The team will take on “the best of Caribbean National teams” in friendly matches, the football federation added.
The tour announcement follows a disappointing results form recent qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
The Walias were beaten back to back by Guinea in second and third round qualifiers last month.
Ethiopia are now bottom in the group G along with Malawi (third) with both on three points and fate of qualifying is out of their hands.
Guinea, and Egypt, who also won both their last two round of matches, lead group G with nine points and the two will qualify if they draw when they meet in June.
