Afcon 2023 Qualifiers: Gatoch, Milion Out of Ethiopia’s return Match Vs Guinea

Ethiopia will face Guinea on Monday night to put their hopes of qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on track.

Coach Wubetu Abate will be without Gatoch Panom due to suspension and Milion Solomon through injury, according to the Ethiopian Football Federation.

Mignot Debebe has returned to the squad after missing his team’s 0-2 loss to Guinea at the Mohammed V stadium last week due to suspension.

The defeat saw the Walia Ibex plummet to the bottom of their group with three points.

Wubetu Abate’s team are struggling to find the net in the ongoing 2023 Afcon qualifiers, losing two of three matches.

Ethiopia will play host to Guinea in a return tie at Prince Moulay stadium in Rabat, to bring their hopes of qualification from Group D back on track.

The group is one of the closely contested ones in the qualifications campaign for the biennial showpiece, with Egypt sitting top with six points, the same as second-placed Guinea.

A 2-0 loss to Egypt in the third round brought Malawi down to third place in the group with three points. The two teams face off again in Blantyre this week.

The next round of qualifiers is scheduled between Sunday and Wednesday with Ethiopia playing Guinea on Monday (Kick-off is at 9:00pm (GMT+3) while Malawi host Egypt on Tuesday.
