Six Killed in Addis Ababa Traffic Accident

ADDIS ABABA – A public bus driver has been arrested in connection with an accident that left six people dead on Monday, according to the Addis Ababa Police.

The deadly accident occurred near Megenagna Bus terminal on Monday evening around 7:15 local time.

It happned after a City bus rammed into vendors working alongside the main road, according to the police report.

Six people were pronounced dead on the spot. Five of the deceased are women, according to Addis Ababa Police.

An undisclosed number of others were taken to various medical centers and the hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is not known, said the police who have launched an investigation in the case.

The driver of the bus, identified as the Shegur public bus with license plate 3-36106 AA, has been arrested, according to the Police.
