New Ethiopian envoy to African Union Presents Credentials
Ambassador Ayele Lire, the Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union and UNECA, has presented his letters of credentials to AU Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat today.
Ambassador Ayele also conveyed messages from the president and prime minister of Ethiopia to the AU Chairperson, according to the ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The envoy also expressed his gratitude to Mahamat for the unwavering support shown to maintain Ethiopia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity during the conflict in the northern part of the country.
The Chairperson of AUC, on his part, congratulated Ambassador Ayele on his appointment and complemented Ethiopia’s critical contributions to Pan-Africanism values, as well as support for continental peace and security and the fight against extremism.
The two sides also discussed a range of topics, including the ongoing preparations to host the upcoming 36th AU Summit in Addis Ababa, and other issues of mutual concern.
