Turkey’s Sampa Automotive Keen to invest in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Sampa Automotive Industry, Turkey’s leading spare parts brand in the global market, is keen to engage in manufacturing in Ethiopia’s industrial park.

Sampa’s delegation is on a pre-investment mission in Addis Ababa where they held talks with senior officials of the Industrial Park Development Cooperation (IPDC) and the Ethiopian Investment Commission on Tuesday.

The Delegation first met with the management of the IDPC. The two sides exchanged detailed basic ideas on the infrastructures, investment options, and multi-faceted services in the industrial parks in Ethiopia.

The Turkish company is interested in engaging in manufacturing in Ethiopian industrial parks, the IPDC said in a statement after the meeting.

Its officials will visit infrastructures in industrial parks to help with pre-investment, said Corporation that manages 13 state-owned industrial parks located across Ethiopia.

On the same day, the delegation of SAMPA met with the head of the Ethiopian Investment Commission Lelise Neme to further discuss their investment interest.

The meeting informed on investing in the SEZ/Industrial Parks as well as the value propositions of Ethiopia for automotive sector investment.

Lelise appreciated “this timely interest” and tipped on the sectoral development policy that is expected to accelerate future investment opportunities.

“The company plans to engage with the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the production of various brands of automotive spare parts,” the Ethiopian Investment Commission said.

Sampa manufactures spare parts for heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, and buses manufacturing companies spare parts and supplies for major global car brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW, Ford, Iveco, and DAF.
