Demeke Holds Talks with Kenyan FM 

ADDIS ABABA – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen met with Dr. Alfred Mutua, the new Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

The two foreign ministers held the discussion on the sidelines of the IGAD ministerial meeting held in Sudan’s capital Khartoum today.

During the discussion, Demeke expressed appreciation to Kenya mentioning the role former President Uhuru Kenyatta played in the success of the peace process.

The deputy prime minister reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to the implementation of the agreement, says the Ministry of Foreign affairs in a statement.

Dr. Alfred, on his part, said that Ethiopian friendship holds a special place in Kenya and its contribution to the peace process is an indication of this.

The two nations can enhance their economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, he added.

Concluding the discussion, the Ministers agreed to strengthen the bilateral and multilateral friendship, reads the MoFA statement.
