Ethiopia Signs Hosting Deal with Org of Educational Cooperation

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia and the Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) signed an agreement for the hosting and establishment of the OEC’s international Headquarters in Addis Ababa.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tesfaye Yilma, and OEC’s Secretary-General of the OEC Sheikh Manssour Bin Mussallam, inked the agreement on Wednesday.

The Secretary-General expressed appreciation to the Government of Ethiopia for its commitment to hosting the first international, intergovernmental organization of the Global South.

Mussallam stated that the establishment of the OEC Headquarters in Ethiopia represents a historic moment for Member States.

It heralds the commencement of the EOC’s executive phase in service of their shared aspirations for the construction of a third, alternative and equitable, way of development, he added.

Foreign Ministry of Ethiopia has reaffirmed its commitment to support the organization in any of its moves.

State Minister Tesfaye said the presence of the organization in Addis Ababa will also facilitate the ideal south-south cooperation in the education sector and gives Ethiopia a partner in developing its education sector.
