Ethiopia Records 42 More Covid-19 Cases, Zero Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 42 more Coronavirus cases in the last twenty-four hours, taking its confirmed tally to 493, 010, according to the ministry of health Covid report for Monday.

The nation’s recovery count also reached 71, 304, said the ministry, after 11 patients recuperated from the respiratory disease on the same day.

The slight increase in daily fresh cases has taken the confirmed active cases total to 14, 133.

Fourteen severely sick covid patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, according to the latest update.

The ministry has not recorded a Covid-related fatality in the last 24 hours as the number of days without Covid death to eight.

The respiratory disease has claimed the lives of at least 7,571 people since the nation recorded the first Covid-related fatality on April 5, 2020.

The nation has since taken several measures in a bid to tackle the pandemic including the launch of a covid-19 vaccine drive starting from March 2021.

In the last 24 hours, however, no one has received a Covid vaccine shot, as per the data on Monday’s report.

Ethiopia has administered nearly 52.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, so far. More than 43.13 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.

Health officials have a target to reach 60% immunization coverage at the end of 2023.
