Ethiopia Logs 41 Covid Infections, 185 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – The ministry of health has reported 41 more Covid-19 infections today as Ethiopia records zero related fatalities for five days in a row.

As per the latest report issued on Tuesday evening, the new cases identified in the last twenty-four hours have brought the nation’s confirmed tally to 492, 590.

At least 185 patients of Covid-19 have also recuperated from the disease in the same period, taking the recovery tally to 470,849.

There are now 14,170 confirmed active cases of Covid-19 in the country. And At least 21 of these Covid patients are severely sick and are receiving treatment in hospitals, the report notes.

No Coronavirus-related fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of days without covid death in the nation to five.

The Covid-19 disease has, however, claimed the lives of at least 7,569 Ethiopians so far, according to the Ministry of health.

The Ministry is conducting a covid vaccine drive in the country as part of a national response to the pandemic as health experts urge the public to be vigilant about the virus.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 52.56 million doses of the covid vaccine, resulting in 43.1 million of its population being fully vaccinated against the virus.

The country, which started offering the vaccine to its citizens last year in March, plans to increase its COVID-19 vaccination coverage to 60% by the end of 2023.
