Ethiopia, China Discuss Ways to Boost Cooperation in Agricultre Sector

ADDIS ABABA – Ambassador of Ethiopia in Beijing, Teshome Toga, and Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC), Lin Huifang, discussed ways to further strengthen Ethiopia-China cooperation in agriculture sector.

The Ambassador met with Lin, deputy director of the FECC, a center under the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, on Friday.

The two sides discussed “ways of further strengthening Ethiopia-China agricultural cooperation,” said the Ethiopian embassy in Beijing.

At the meeting, Ambassador Teshome noted that the agriculture sector is a priority in his country’s ten-year national development plan, and highlighted the strong cooperation Ethiopia and China have in the sector.

He also added that Agricultural Development Program is one of the nine priority goals given due attention under the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) framework.

The three-year program plans to support Africa’s goal of achieving food security by 2030, through sustainable assistance, sharing the best practices, and tailor-make development models.

FECC’s Deputy Director-General Lin reiterated that China will continue to support Ethiopia in agricultural investments, technical cooperation, product promotion, and many other related areas.
