Ethiopia Reports 37 New Covid-19 Cases, One Fatality
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 37 fresh Covid-19 cases and one related death in the last twenty-four hours, according to the ministry of health.
The patients diagnosed with the Coronavirus on Thursday have brought the nation’s confirmed total to more than 492,412.
About 470,440 patients have already regained their health, said the ministry, after adding only 13 recoveries in the reported period.
The number of severe cases has remained the same as in the previous 24 hours. At least 20 seriously sick covid patients are getting treatments in hospitals. The patients are among the 14,41 active cases of Covid in the country.
The nation has also recorded the first Covid-related fatality in nine days after a patient succumbed to the respiratory disease on Thursday.
A total of 7,569 people have lost their lives due to the coronavirus so far, according to health officials.
The East African nation is carrying out a nationwide vaccine drive as part of its response to tackling the pandemic.
To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 52.56 million doses of the covid vaccine, resulting in 43.1 million of its population being fully vaccinated against the virus.
Health officials, who launched the national vaccine drive in March 2021, plan to reach 60% COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
