Ethiopia Adds 38 Covid Cases, Zero Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 38 more Covid-19 infections as the country reports zero related fatalities for seven consecutive days, health officials’ latest update reveals.
The nation’s confirmed cases total has now reached 492, 316, according to the ministry of health’s report published on Tuesday evening
At least 73 patients of Covid have also been reported in the last twenty-four hours, taking the recovery count to 469,788.
The nation now has 14, 958 confirmed active cases of Covid-19. About 22 of them are seriously ill and are receiving treatment in hospitals, the report says.
No Covid-related fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours as the nation logs zero fatalities for a week. The national Covid death toll stays at 7,568
Despite the drop in new and severe cases, health officials are still advising the public to remain vigilant about the pandemic by wearing facemasks when in crowded places, in addition to getting the covid vaccine shot.
Today’s report indicates that close to 3,600 doses of the covid vaccine have been offered in the last 24 hours.
This has brought the total of Covid vaccine shots administered in Ethiopia to more than 52.56 million and the number of fully vaccinated people to over 43.1.
Health officials, who started the ongoing vaccine drive last year in March, plan to reach 60% national COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
