Ethiopia Logs Zero Covid Deaths over the Weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 113 more Covid-19 cases over the weekend as the country registered zero related deaths for five consecutive days.

The nation’s confirmed tally has now reached 492,237, a Ministry of Health Covid-19 report issued on Sunday evening.

In the past forty-eight hours, at least 176 patients of the Covid-19 have regained their health, bringing the recovery count to 469, 696.

Ethiopia currently has 14, 971 confirmed active cases of Covid-19, decreasing by 63 from Friday.

Hospital cases are also decreasing.

There are now 25 severe cases after six patients were discharged from the hospital on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health has not confirmed additional deaths related to Covid-19.

This has brought the number of days without confirmed fatalities to five as the Covid-19 death toll stays at 7,568.

Despite a drop in severe cases, health officials are still advising the public to take the necessary precautions including wearing facemasks when in crowded places in addition to getting the vaccine shot.

To date, Ethiopia has administered more than 52.5t million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Over 43.1 million people have also been fully vaccinated against the virus, says the Ministry of Health which has a plan to increase the nation’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage to 60% by the end of 2023.
