Ethiopia Logs 121 New Covid Cases, Zero Fatality

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia on Wednesday recorded 124 new coronavirus infections and zero fatality as the number of severely sick covid-19 patients drop slightly.

The patients diagnosed with the disease today have brought the national confirmed total to a little over 491,400, says the latest covid-19 report health officials issued on Wednesday evening.

The report also says only 53 patients have recovered from the Covid-19 disease in the last twenty-four hours. The recovery count currently stands at 468,392.

The drop in recoveries today makes the active cases count in the country increase by more than 70 to 15,452.

The cumulative number of severe cases has, however, dropped by three after a slight increase in the past two consecutive days.

There are now 40 severely sick patients of Covid-19 receiving treatments in medical centers in the country.

Health officials have also reported zero fatalities related to the Coronavirus in the last 24 hours as the national death toll remains at 7, 563.

The public is still being urged to remain vigilant of respiratory disease and get the Covid vaccine shot.

At least 106, 000 people have been vaccinated in the last twenty-four years, data from the Ministry of Health shows.

Ethiopia has administered close to 52.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to the public since its vaccination campaign started on March 13, 2021.

More than 43 million people have also been fully vaccinated with a primary series of two doses, according to the latest update.
