Ethiopia Logs 86 New Covid Cases, one Fatality
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has logged 86 new Covid-19 cases and one related fatality today, a ministry of health report claims, as the nation resumed offering the Covid vaccine.
The latest infections identified in the last twenty-four hours have brought the nation’s confirmed total to 491, 172. At least 468, 296 patients have already recuperated from the disease, says the ministry, after adding 189 recoveries today.
There are now at least 42 severely sick patients getting medical treatments in hospitals. Two of them have been admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, says the report.
The severe cases are among 15, 321 confirmed active cases in the country.
One Coronavirus-related fatality has also been confirmed in the reported period, taking the national death toll to 7,562.
Public Health experts are still urging the public to be vigilant as well as get themselves vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
Nearly 100,000 shots of the Covid vaccine have been given to the public today, according to the latest report, following a pause for a couple of days in the nation’s covid drive.
This takes the total doses administered in Ethiopia close to 52.4 million. Over 42.94 million Ethiopians have also received at least two doses of the vaccine against the coronavirus.
Ethiopia started offering Covid vaccine shots to its citizens in March of last year and has a plan to reach 60% COVID-19 vaccination coverage by the end of 2023.
