Ethiopia Records 109 New Covid Cases, 2 Fatalities

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 109 new coronavirus cases in the last twenty-four hours, bringing its confirmed total to 490,925, a ministry of health report reveals.

In the report published on Friday evening, the Ministry says only 38 patients have recovered from the Covid-19 disease. This has taken the recovery count registered in the country, so far, to 467, 990.

Currently, there are 15,372 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia. About 39 of them are severely sick and are receiving treatments in medical centers, according to the latest update.

The ministry also confirmed the death of two patients due to the acute respiratory disease, pushing the nation’s Covid-related death toll Monday.

Health officials are still urging the public to get the Covid vaccine shot to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from the deadly virus.

More than 31,100 doses of the covid-19 vaccine have been given to the public in the past 24 hours, today’s update shows.

Ethiopia started offering Covid vaccine shots to its citizens in March of last year. Since then, it has administered over 52.28 million doses of the Covid vaccine.

Close to 42.85 million Ethiopians have also been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, said the Ministry of health.
